Hi Paul

I was just kidding about the porsche, but would still love to see it stay.
I can remember pumps like that, "ESSO EXTRA" put a tiger in your tank commercials, and cheap gas prices. I was pumping gas as an after school job in the '70s when it went all the way up from fifty cents to one whole dollar a gallon! My wife & kids tells me that means I'm old. I'm just impressed that I can remember!

Not true Don. I worked as a prep kid at a Porsche/Audi dealer before I started collage in '73. Gas was at 29 to 32 cents per gallon and there were several of these types of gas stations where I grew up. The dealer had Audi Foxes and 1000s and 914s, 911, Targas, and Cararas (no idea if my spelling is correct). I was permitted to drive deliveries on all but the last two. What a job for an 18 year old kid!

Mark, not old - experienced at living! Laughing

OK, Next!
Here's another home. A single level "Ranch" style, Hope my brother doesn't mind me using his house for a model.

The clock is ticking. I started the warehouse suggested by Blazer9. I'm just winging it here, using a foggy memory of an Owens Corning warehouse with trailer docks on one side of the building and a box car loading platform on the other side.

If you want to see something included or have a different idea all together, you have about 24 hours to make your suggestions. Wink

I've also been reading other forum threads. There's a lot of talk about tunnel entrances. I will do a few sets (double track entrance not shown) with different stone and brick materials.

Paul
BTW the tractor-trailer is already in RtR, I'm just using it for scale.

Paul,

That warehouse looks great.....maybe on with a flat roof kinda of narrow so we can add them together to make a large warehouse complex.

also I was just thinking that maybe we could get a three piece set of a tractor trailer set with a tank trailer, and a shorter version of the long trailer, and just a tractor so we could mix and match the style of tractor-trailers.

also the houses and the tunnel entrances look fantastic.....I am drooling all over my keyboard......really looking forward to everything the group(will, chris , peter ...ahh heck everyone)has made.

praying brainbom has time to add all of them.

Happy Railroading

Instead of attaching yet another image I just updated the previous post of the warehouse (you may need to click your refresh button to see the update). ... almost done.

I'm trying to place most of the detail on either side of the building so several could be placed side by side. The office and signs will hide inside the next.

Also, the two siding colors will be repaintable. I tried to come up with a name that could work in most cases. Tricity doesn't really name a particular city but as with any of the textures in RtR, if you have a 2D image program like Paint Shop Pro or similar and a DDS converter you can always change the name.

I've also been thinking about Blazer9's (Don's) idea for combining buildings. If you have a building top floor and a ground floor, then have a center floor, with RtR's new feature of being able to adjust an objects level above the table you could build sky-scrapers by stacking a number of the center floors. Kind-a like F.L. Right "pre-fab" architecture. No images, it's still in the concept stages. Wink

Thanks for all the encouragement everyone. The guys at Brainbombers are just waiting for me to make enough models to make a good pack. They set aside 100 ID numbers for me. I may not get to 100 but 50 might make a good pack.

Well I finished the trailor dock side of the warehouse. Even though this looks particularly detailed, it's all in the textures. The poly count (so far) is less than any of the houses I modeled except for the last. I like how this is shaping up even if I do say so myself.

The interior has a cement floor that you can stack some of the existing crates and barrels already in RtR.

The semi-transparent look of the deck around the office is because it's a steel mesh or grating walk-way. It works well in RtR, it just rendered a little strange here.

Peter: Naa! Sitting in Houston waiting for the Coast Guard to print my Capt's license reissue ... worse than the DMV. Laughing Homeland Security has slowed everything down to a snail's pace. I guess nothing will happen today so I might as well do some more modeling ... hum ... maybe I should find a church!

Don: I figure it must be Ammonium-nitrate or maybe plague infected body parts (or would that be a 2?). The one that has me worried is the radio active yellow. 2 is "violent chemical reaction"Shocked - violent? ... wonder how much TCS pays for insurance???????

Happy Easter everyone!

Hi Paul..

Nice work! Reeeeeeal Nice work! I've seen that warehouese all over
the country. Pretty good for wingn' it I'd say. Love the HAZMAT placard.
If Tri City thinks the insurance bill is high, lets hope they don't spill anything. The EPA fines will kill them!
Also, I love the smoke stains on the tunnel entrances.

Thanks Mark. I guess it's one of those functional designs that works. I'm still trying to work out Don's request for being able to put several buildings end to end without repeating the office building. The only way I can see to do it would be to have a second model without the truck docks and office.

You're the first to comment on the soot on the tunnels. I noticed in my Internet search for tunnel entrances (isn't the www wonderful!) 95% of them had soot stains. I received an interesting IM from austindave this morning. He had several excellent ideas; one concerning the tunnel entrances and how to make the width of the opening adjustable for double tracks of varying widths. I'm going to work on his ideas as soon as I finish the warehouse.

Keep watching!

Paul
