Hi Peter, Thanks for your reply. Can you please specify where and how to change the settings for the shell? Be as specific as possible please!
Thanks and regards.

November 2, 2006 at 7:29 am #957AnonymousInactiveI´ll see again for it and save it as text and then i´ll send it to you over PM November 7, 2006 at 3:26 am #958AnonymousInactiveI Dl’d Your layout viewer and, viola, no worries whatsoever. Good work ! I am wondering if to also install into IronHorses dir to see those layouts as well. Or have I again done wrong somehow ?
I can only see layouts in RTR folder.
Things can only get better and, they’re great now !
Thanks again,
unger
November 7, 2006 at 6:06 pm #959AnonymousInactiveHi unger, The viewer was mainly written for browsing RTR-layouts an to start RTR.
I´ll ask Willi to test it for IH. It´s a really good tool to search layouts.
November 7, 2006 at 11:44 pm #960AnonymousInactiveHi Unger, I’m glad that everything works fine and that Layout Viewer is useful for you. It doesn’t work with IH because it searches the installed layouts with the filter “.roa” for the ending. And they are different for IH.
At the moment there are not so many layouts for IH, but I could create a IH-version if there is a need for that although the new Version will have many new features specific for RTR.
Kind regards,
Willi
November 7, 2006 at 11:56 pm #961AnonymousInactiveHi Rule The Rail friends, In the meantime the expanded Layout Viewer has made big progress and BrainBombers has integrated the start-up parameters into RTR, which already work fine with one exception.
That’s how the new options panel will look like:
The already known functions of layout browsing, layout and archives management work without changes. Additionaly the options panel has many new functions like screen settings, framerate display, select skies and the most important: start RTR directly with a layout you have selected in Layout viewer. For more detailed informations please look here:
http://www.wleopold.ch/n_forum/viewthread.php?start=20&boardid=19&thid=165 ” class=”bbcode_url”> http://www.wleopold.ch/n_forum/viewthread.php?start=20&boardid=19&thid=165 Important: The new start-up parameters won’t work with layout names that have spaces. Please name your layouts in the future without spaces. You will also have to rename the installed layouts with spaces with an underline instead of the space for the use with Layout Viewer 2.0, for example:
old: tutorial 11.roa
new: tutorial_11.roa
I will deliver the altered layout information files (pictures and description) with the new version of Layout Viewer.
But besides this little work I hope, the new Layout Viewer will be useful for you.
Best regards,
Willi
November 8, 2006 at 3:29 am #962AnonymousInactiveHi, I found that such a good idea, Alanti had (see here:
) that I have just implemented it in the soon coming new Layout Viewer:http://brainbombers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=70&start=15 ” class=”bbcode_url”> http://brainbombers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=70&start=15 If the Layout Viewer finds a special ground texture for the selected layout, it is displayed in the preview window, when you open the options panel and automatically copies it to “terrain.jpg”. The user specific terrain textures must only have the same name like the layout, in this example “texture_test.jpg”.
I had to re-arrange the selection buttons to have room for the “Special” texture button and so also got room for 2 more night and 2 more day skies I will supply later.
Now you can create layouts with any ground textures you like and nevertheless share them with everybody as long as you supply your terrain texture with the layout file! Many thanks, Alanti, for this great idea!
Best regards,
Willi
November 11, 2006 at 7:39 pm #963AnonymousInactiveHi unger,hi kees, Wait for the version 2 of the viewer.
Kees its in HKEY_Local_machine/software/microsoft/windows/currentVersion/explorer/shell
it´s so by my machine,on yours i dont know exactly.
November 11, 2006 at 8:24 pm #964AnonymousInactiveHi Peter, Thanks for your reply. On my machine it is different specified, so I will wait for version 2 of the viewer.
Thanks anyhow.
Regards,
Kees
November 12, 2006 at 11:13 am #965AnonymousInactiveThe second version will have features as Willi introduced. With all start- and fileparameters to run RTR.
If Willi continue so as i saw,he´ll write a skin- or(and) modeleditor especially for RTR. His activity is really great.
November 13, 2006 at 9:24 pm #966AnonymousInactiveHi, What screen resolution selections higher than 1280 x 1024 would you like in the new Layout Viewer? Chris told me the following:
– 1440 x 900
– 1600 x 1200
– 1920 x 1200
If others would be useful for you, please tell me. Although you will be able to enter any resolution you want, manually.
Kind regards,
Willi
P.S All anounced features are working and all skies are implemented, totally 18, 5 night and 13 day skies. There are all 14 skies from Iron Horses and for additional ones from me. One of them – moonlight – you can see on the screenshot below. Together with BrainBombers we are working now to maybe make even more features possible.
November 14, 2006 at 5:53 pm #967AnonymousInactiveThis will a great program too, with selected sky- and grountextures and higher resolution. Now it´s fullmoon Thanx Willi.
November 21, 2006 at 2:17 pm #968AnonymousInactiveHi everyone, Layout Viewer 2.0 is under final testing by Chris, especially the developer features are tested now. I already couldn’t be anymore without that, it’s a huge help for testing new models.
LV 2.0 will be released together with RTR 1.4. BrainBombers has built in some new options that are available by LV und great new features.
Additionaly to the already presented options, the follwing will be new:
– Complex Water Simulation can be selected in LV (and saved) und doesn’t have to be choosen anymore with each new game session.
– Reverse Camera: If you select this option, the train following camera turns left around the train, if you press the left cursor key, and not vice versa like now.
More improvements and new features:
– The great light effects of day skies work now from the beginning, if you start a layout directly from LV.
– Pop-ups/pop-outs of models at the screen edge have been improved, but are not yet satisfying for me.
– Models can now have transparent windows! I will add this feature to my switch tower.
– And the most important: If you click the camera icon, when you are in train following camera mode, the camera now rests where it is and you can finally change from one train to another!
I hope, it won’t last long until LV 2.0 and RTR 1.4 will be released.
Best regards,
Willi
P.S. Chris, many thanks for your big and serious testing work!
November 21, 2006 at 6:16 pm #969AnonymousInactiveThanks to Willi and Chris, to create and testing the version 2.0
November 23, 2006 at 12:18 am #970AnonymousInactiveHi, Regarding the reactions and inputs here, BrainBombers and me don’t have to hurry to release RTR 1.4. and Layout Viewer 2.0.
😉 Fine, we have a lot of other things to do.But I have a huge plea – again: Please send me layout pictures – 480 x 360 pixel, jpg format – and layout descriptions – plain text format – of layouts I don’t have and so are not yet included in Layout Viewer. As you know, with the same name like the layout, for example: demolayout.roa.jpg and demolayout.roa.txt.So I can release them together with the new version. My email address:
wleopold@bluewin.ch . Layout browsing is only useful if all users have layout information files of all layouts that are available. Could you please also put a link here, from where you have downloaded these layouts not yet included in Layout Viewer? Many thanks,
Willi
P.S. Please don’t forget: no spaces in layout names in the future, please! Otherwise they won’t work with direct load from Layout Viewer.
